If you’re visiting Essaouira with a group of friends and want to do something unforgettable, fun, and off the beaten path, sandboarding with Essaouira Sandboarding is the experience.
We were a group of 12 friends, and this 2-hour adrenaline-packed session turned out to be one of the best moments of our trip — full of laughter, incredible views, and unforgettable memories, all captured by our guide Simo… with just his phone!
⸻
🚐 A 30-Minute Escape from the City
Our day started with a comfortable tourist transfer, arranged by the Essaouira Sandboarding team. After about 30 minutes heading north of the city, we arrived at Tissa Vague, a beautiful Berber-style restaurant and chill basecamp nestled near the dunes.
⸻
🍵 Tea First, Then Thrills
At Tissa Vague, we were welcomed with fresh mint tea and local pastries, served in a shaded tent. It was the perfect pause before getting sandy.
That’s when we met Simo, the guide behind Essaouira Sandboarding — a super friendly, high-energy guy with a real passion for his work. Not only is he a great coach, he’s also a skilled content creator who documented our whole adventure using just his phone — and trust us, the footage looked amazing.
⸻
🏂 Dunes, Laughter & Ocean Views
From Tissa Vague, we headed to the nearby coastal dunes — a stunning area where golden sand meets the Atlantic. The views were absolutely breathtaking.
Simo gave a quick demo and helped everyone get the hang of sandboarding. Whether we were sliding down on our feet, sitting, or belly-first, the energy was high and the laughs non-stop. It was pure fun — no pressure, just good vibes and a beautiful setting.
⸻
📱 Simo the Sandboarding Content King
While we were riding, climbing, and goofing around, Simo was everywhere — filming, taking action shots, group pictures, and fun slow-mo videos, all with just his phone. He knew the best angles, the best moments, and how to make every shot look epic — no drone, no fancy gear, just talent and timing.
At the end of the session, he AirDropped everything to us on the spot, so we left the dunes with incredible memories captured perfectly and ready to post.
⸻
🕒 Just the Right Amount of Time
The whole activity lasted about 2 hours, which was ideal. It was enough to enjoy every moment without getting exhausted, and it left us the rest of the afternoon to explore or chill back in Essaouira.
